Keez Keeshonden is a small kennel located on approximately 5 acres in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne Australia.

We have lived with, loved, shown and bred Keeshonden for approximately 25 years.

Keez Kennels started with the purchase of our foundation bitch Kema Stepout N Style from Bev Wigglesworth. Two years later saw the purchase of Rymiska Top Notch from Eddie & Robin Ryan

To this day, almost everything in our kennel goes back to these two dogs.

1998 saw us import American Champion Childerick's Flame Fatalle

Flame was the first  American & Australian Champion Keeshond and still remains the only American & Australian Champion Bitch in Australia.

1999 Flame was bred to RUBIS Aust Ch Rymiska Top Notch - the litter produced 5 puppies. 4 Became Australian champions, 1 went onto become an Australian Grand Champion, 2 became Best In Specialty Winners, and 4 became  Royal Challenge Winners.

This was the only litter produced by Flame in this Country as she developed Pyometra and required an emergency Spay.

The year 2000 was a memorable one as Cheri joined the Keez Crew.

To date Keez Keeshonden has bred &/or owned:

30 Champions

6 Best In Show Winners

3 Runner Up In Show Winners

5 Best In Specialty Show Winners

4 Runner Up In Specialty Show Winners

1 Best  In Group winner Royal Adelaide Show

2 Runner Up Best in Group Royal Adelaide Show

1 Winner of the SACA Guineas Final Royal Adelaide Show

2 Puppy in Group winners Royal Adelaide Show

6 Royal Show Best Of Breed Winners

13 Royal Show Challenge Winners

3 Australian Grand Champions

We have exported Keeshonden to Indonesia, Canada and the United States of America

2008 / 2009 will bring some exciting times as Keez Keeshonden will take a shift in direction with our breeding program.

In June 2008 Australian Champion Clandara Xara (imp NZ) via Tasmania from Sean & Kathy Field joined the Keez Krew to bring in some long awaited new blood.

September 2008 saw the arrival of Hurricane Miah or otherwise known as New Zealand Champion Keeswey Highland Lady At Keez (imp NZ) She will also bring in some new blood into our breeding program and a new sense of excitement for our future!

June 2009 saw the arrival of Miah's brother Luca aka New Zealand Champion Keeswey The Marksman At Keez (Imp NZ), what a wonderful addition to our breeding program. Again our thanks go out to Cathy & Murray Smithson for allowing these two to join us!

Our heartfelt thanks goes to those kennels for their support while we shift directions.

We showed sparingly over 2007 and 2008 due to the purchase of a new business, in the later part of 2008 our business' settled and we have gotten out to a few shows. Up until July of 2009 saw us attend a total of only 11 shows (just enough to put an Australian Championship on Miah)

2009 also sees the official retirement of BIS / BISS Australian Grand Champion Keez Have U Heard. Harvey injured his shoulder tendon at the Royal Melbourne show in 2008 and a complete recovery is not in the cards for him. So he will remain here at Keez as a much loved member of the family and go on to sire some lovely babies for us

A persistent ruptured Achilles tendon saw Cheri undergo extensive reconstruction surgery to repair it in December 2008. This will put her out of the ring for an expected 18 - 24 months. She will remain the "Stage Mum" and Assistant until her return to the ring in late 2009.

October 2009 sees Cheri return to the show ring with our latest baby - Keez If The Shoe Fits - Imelda. She is proving to be immense fun. While she pushes the top winning Best in Show and Grand Champion adults and succeeding in some Best of Breed wins at a very early age.

April 2010 sees Cheri rupture her other Achilles tendon and awaiting reconstructive surgery on April 27, 2010 to repair it. another recovery period of 12 - 18 months awaits.
